Hz. Mevlânâ

Hz. Mevlânâ Celaleddin Rumi was born in Belh city of Horasan on 30th September 1207; on 3rd May 1228 he moved to Konya and written his wors there; He passed away on 17th December 1273.

MEVLÂNÂ MUSEUM

The original site of the museum, which was the rose garden of the palace, was Sultans grant for Mevlânâ’s father Bahattin Veled (Lord of the scholars). On this site was built a tomb in 1274 and in 1396 a tower of blue tiles was erected. The part in which Mevlânâ’s tomb is situated was opened as a museum in 1927. Mevlânâ’s belongings, some pieces of art concerning his sect, some musical instruments, inscriptions, samples of cloth and carpets are being displayed in the museum.
